About AIxPH

AIxPH is a first-of-its-kind convening focused on the intersection of artificial intelligence and public health. Bringing together leaders from public health, technology, academia, philanthropy, government, and community-based organizations, AIxPH explores how AI is transforming the public’s health — and how organizations can responsibly harness its potential while addressing ethical, equitable, and societal considerations.

Presenters will describe the state of AI adoption in public health organizations, governance frameworks for ethical use, and recommendations for addressing communities’ concerns with this impactful technology. Several workshops designed for different levels of technical expertise will be offered, including:

  • Policy in Practice: A Hands-On Approach to AI Governance in Public Health, where participants will explore foundational activities that support policy development, including assessing organizational AI readiness, identifying a rationale for policy development, engaging stakeholders, and establishing governance structures.
  • Prompt Engineering for Public Health: Improving Results While Addressing Bias and Risk, exploring prompt engineering fundamentals, including how to structure prompts, provide context, refine outputs, and apply proven prompting frameworks to achieve more reliable and useful results.
  • Start with Ramen: A Hands On, Human Centered Path to AI Readiness, introduces a simple, human-centered method for helping public health workers learn AI the same way people learn to cook: by starting with small, achievable tasks such as developing clear messages, summarization, organization, and basic planning.
  • HIPPA Doesn't Cover AI, lessons from reproductive health and what public health leaders need to know to protect patient privacy as public health and healthcare implement AI at scale.
  • A vendor selection workshop, from PubHealth Futures, will describe an assessment framework to define implementation objectives and the problem to solve, determine your organization’s readiness, procurement options including build or buy, and evaluate a vendor’s offerings against key criteria including interoperability, security, knowledge transfer, and cost structure.

And many more! Check back for updates!

Join public health practitioners, technologists, researchers, policymakers, and innovators from across the country as they collaborate on strategies to prepare for the ethical, responsible, and effective use of AI in public health practice, research, policy, and education.
